President's Report
Heritage Day at the Junior Museum on March 20 was a very pleasant experience. I had never participated before and it was a lot of fun. Our representatives were: Linda Aspinwall, Joyce Post, Regina Johnson, Linda Carpenter, Sally Bendschneider, Beverly Pierzchala, Sue Gulkis and myself. I saw quite a few future quilters. One little girl even came back three times to try quilting.
Our classes are coming along nicely. I have one slot left in Mary Molinari's "Frame It" class. I will be sending in the list and funds to GSQA this week. We do not have a full slot of students. GSQA classes do not seems to be a real popular item with SABQG. This set of classes will be our last with GSQA. They are a real bargain and a wealth of information; it's a shame that they are not very well received. Oh well!
I will not be at the April day meeting as I will be in Paducah. I do hope to see many of you at my home as I am doing both of the April Sitn'Stitches on April 1 at 7:00pm and April 7 at 9:30am.
Buzz from the Queen Bee
Well, worker bees, you've done it again! Those lovely quilt show raffle bee-baskets generated $363 pure profit toward our SABQG budget. I think we did quite well considering that it was our first time making the raffle baskets. What if each bee "hive" member started right now putting aside items for next year? A little here a little there, pretty soon it would add up to a bountiful bee-basket for the next quilt show!
Speaking of the next quilt show, Bobbi Clemens reports that the Sisterhood bee is well along on the opportunity quilt. She said it is unnamed as yet, but is a combination of Mariner's Compass patchwork and Jacobean appliqué. I heard through the busy-bee grapevine that the colors are so bright, you gotta wear shades! It sounds like it will be another stunner, and I can hardly wait to see it. As you all know, a large part of our yearly budget comes from the opportunity quilt ticket sales, so when you see one of the Sisterhood members, remember to say thanks for their efforts. Call me or e-mail me with all your bee news. I would love to feature your bee in our next Patchwords issue.
