December 2008

Presidents Report for November, 2008

It was so nice to see the Thanksgiving spirit at both the day and night meetings. The day buffet had so many holiday delights it was hard to choose what to eat. The evening refreshment table was complete with a horn of plenty and many delicious desserts. Great job ladies!

Well our Christmas Shoppe was a success. We were a little shy of last year's inaugural event, but it was a valiant effort and the financial results were nothing to be disappointed about ... considering the current final situation, we did very well! ANY ITEMS WITH ASSIGNED NUMBERS THAT WERE NOT PICKED UP AFTER THE EVENT CAN BE CLAIMED BY CONTACTING EITHER PATTY MAC MONIGAL OR AKING. ARRANGEMENTS CAN THEN BE MADE TO
CLAIM YOUR ITEMS.

Our next guild event is the Christmas Luncheon at the Boatyard on PCB on December 6, 2008 at 11:00 am. It will be my first time to attend and I am looking forward to it. My postal job always made the luncheon attendance too uncertain for me. Please remember to bring your donation Christmas stocking and also your journal quilt.

The explanation of the new guild policy concerning non-guild sponsored events is as follows: contact the president at least a day prior to the meetings to request time to make your announcement to the membership, also a trial 3-minute time frame is allotted to make your announcement, fliers may be placed on the table near the
member-ship table. Please do not embarrass yourself or Janet or I by requiring us to ask you to stop speaking once your time frame is over. You can always answer questions after the meeting. ANNOUCEMENTS ARE AVAILABLE TO GUILD MEMBERS ONLY!

As I write this Thanksgiving is still to come, however when you read this it will be over. From my home to yours I wish you the very best holiday. We are such a blessed group with a hobby that gives us such pleasure and satisfaction. I feel sure the guild as a group is very thankful for each and every one of you and your support.

Respectfully submitted, Jo-Ellen Rogers
Linda

PS
A day member gave me a small sack of royal crown bags to give to a night member. Unfortunately I do not remember who gave me the bag or to whom it was to be delivered. Please contact me, if this notice applies to
you. I guess I need to keep a note pad on my person at meetings because this is about the third time.

Merry Christmas

The Beach Bee will have a December meeting on Thursday, December 11 at 1:00. It will be at Mary Oliver's house. We are looking for more members. If anyone needs directions, they can call me.

The Seaside Stitchers at St. Joe Beach are keeping busy making baby quilts for the Christmas Shop. We meet the 1st Monday afternoon of the month, 1pm until ----. More quilters are welcome. We have a lot of fun ... just call Carol Penrod.

This Recipe was requested from our October meeting.
-------------------------------------------
Recipe for Montgomery Caviar:
by Bonnie Wynne and Carol Penrod. This is Bonnie's recipe with my mistakes.

1 can of corn, drained
1 can of black eye peas, drained
1 bottle of 8 oz. Zesty Italian Dressing (I used 1/2 bottle 8 oz.of Raspberry Vinaigrette Salad
dressing and 1/2 Zesty Italian by mistake)
1 - 8 oz can Rotel tomatoes. (I used a can of diced tomatoes and put 2 mild jalapeno peppers and a
little juice from the jar)
1 green pepper
6 onions green (I used a couple of slices of onion)
1/2 table spoon garlic salt
1/2 tsp of onion powder
1 or 2 bags of the scoop chips

Mix everything together and stir good and that is all there is to it!
