PRESIDENT’S NOTE
As I write this, it is still several days before Christmas and so far this has been a busy and wonderful holiday time. I have helped make things for our "shut-ins," finished quilts for family gifts (UFO's) and have been to several parties (7). Also have received lots of wonderful gifts (thank you). I also know and celebrate the real reason for Christmas. Hope you do, too.

To the Board members—thank you for all you do and for your support. Also want to thank all of our guild members for things they have made and done to touch the lives of others this year. You are truly a wonderful, caring and giving group of women.
Are you ready for the New Year? Are you working on a quilt for the Quilt Expo or have you finished one? You still have time to do so. How about your UFOs? Maybe after the holidays we can get back to finishing these. Maybe we can all get down to some serous quilting. I pray that you all will have a happy, healthy, prosperous and blessed New Year. Until next year
Susie Note - Daren Snyder asked us to remind Snowbirds that we will again donate Cruiser Quilts to the Bay County Sheriff's Dept. Will collect them at the February meeting.

ROSEMARY MARTENS
First I would like to wish each and every one of you a very Happy Holiday from our house to yours, and may you have a Blessed New Year.
The Honeybees have a few openings in their Bee. Call me if you are interested.
The Ladybugs and the Hummingbirds enjoyed Christmas lunches at Chef Imondi’s instead of their regular monthly meetings.
Looks like the Ladybugs are in the SPOTLIGHT this month along with the Sisterhood. Would like to thank the Sisterhood for a great Guild Christmas Party. Everyone enjoyed themselves. You did a great job.
The Ladybugs are putting on that HAT for next year and will be hostesses for the party. We have already reserved Black Angus Restaurant for Saturday, December 1, 2007. Mark your calendars now for that date. Plans are already in progress for favors and name tags. A few ideas for contests besides the stocking contest are being tossed around. (Now is the time to buy up those leftover stockings the stores have to decorate for next year.) We have started a list for next year of things we would like to see changed at the luncheon and, if anyone has any ideas, either call or email me and let us know what they are.
Quilty Hugs and God Bless,
rosemar038@bellsouth.net.

E-WORD NOTICES - SUE GULKIS
To date, I have received about half of the addresses I had last year. If you wish to receive e-mail notices of information about the guild between Patchwords (our newsletter), please send me an e-mail suesew@aol.com. Because of all the SPAM e-mails out in cyberspace, putting SABQG in the subject line of each e-mail about SABQG will help to get your message through. If "SABQG e-words" is in the subject line, you do not have to write anything else if you don't want to. I do not want to overlook your request and delete your message because I didn't recognize the address. If you have information pertaining to the guild or guild members send it to me as you want it sent out. Again, in the subject line include "SABQG" so I don't delete it.
DITTO - SARAH HOUGH
I echo Sue’s words above. When sending information for Patchwords, I prefer that it be sent to me at dougandsarah1@comcast.net. Putting SABQG in the subject line will ensure that your message is not inadvertently deleted.

PUBLICITY – HELEN RUSSO
YOPLAIT LIDS- Thanks to everyone who turned in a pink lid for the SAVE LIDS TO SAVE LIVES campaign. I sent 120 lids in the mail. WOW!!
CHRISTMAS PARTY NEWS -- A festive time was had at our annual Christmas Party held at the Black Angus Restaurant. The Purse Pageant was lots of fun with 19 contestants!! For those that were unable to attend, here are our winners: 4th runner-up Mary Frances Sheffield with a Santa purse, 3rd runner-up Linda Aspinwall with a pin cushion purse, 2nd runner-up Betty Williams with a fish purse, 1st runner-up Helen Jeroski with a gingerbread house purse and the "Queen" is Linda Kelley with a sweater purse. Congratulations to all our winners and a big "Thanks" to those that entered the pageant.
VA QUILTS -- Our guild presented 105 quilts to the Chester Sims State Veterans Home on Nov. 29th. There were around 20 members present to help the Vets "pick-out" their favorite quilt. Janet Adams arranged for the Tyndall AFB Honor Guard to give a Flag presentation. It was quite a touching ceremony. There wasn't a dry eye to be found. Thanks to all our members who contributed in many different ways to accomplish this most worthy goal.

HISTORIAN – JUNE BROWN
I would appreciate copies of photos taken at Christmas and at the Veterans' Home.
LIBRARY – IRENE O’SHEA
Library Patrons: You are responsible for a book until your name is checked off! If you have returned a book and your name has not been checked off, find the book and get it checked off. DO NOT leave a book on the table – stand in line until it can be checked off.
REPORT FROM EVENING GROUP – JO-ELLEN ROGERS
The November refreshment committee of Bobbi Clemons, Helen Russo and Donna Hall did a wonderful job. Most of the group showed up early to partake. The committee for January 18 is Paula Cox, Linda Kelley, and Sally Bendschneider
FALL RETREAT – BONNIE HOLLEY AND ANN PYLE
For those of you that did not attend the retreat, we had a wonderful time. We "flew" to Hawaii and were entertained by Hula Dancers, visited a Hawaiian Fabric Store, even attended a Luau and ate Real Hawaiian Fruit. It was quite an event. Several members participated in a challenge block and all the blocks were won by Teresa Stonecypher. Lee Brahier was crowned the Wal-Mart Queen and took home the newly designed Wal-Mart Queen Trophy for the most trips to Marianna Wal-Mart store. We played several games and just had a really fun time being together as quilting sisters.
We just want to say a special thanks to Susie Pippin, India Belisle, Jo-Ellen Rogers, Pat Watson and Dolores Fowler for being such good sports.
Hope to see you at the next retreat. Who knows what might happen there?

SUNSHINE & SHADOWS, Bobbi Clemens
The November evening meeting had a real treat. We were honored to have Janice Roberts attend. She has really been sick for quite awhile. She wanted to let us know just how much the guild has meant to her and to thank us for all the prayers, cards and phone calls. She really looked good, but she still has a long way to go, so keep her in your prayers.
Flo Southall had a rather inconvenient stay in the hospital and Health South. She had several weeks of therapy, and is well on the road to recovery. You know she has no time for illness!
Jan Roasati’s husband passed away recently. She will not be coming to the coast this winter. Jan, you have our heartfelt sympathy. Please know we care.
Diane Russell had surgery at Thanksgiving time, but she has recovered and doing great.
Carolyn St. Amant had surgery on Dec 20. She had a total knee replacement. She has been in real pain. Let’s hope this surgery will remove the pain. |
