January 2009 Volume 4 Issue 1
Dear Guild Members:
It is nearly the end of December and I cannot believe that half of my first year as President is over. Time just seemed to fly by with one event after another. I want to take this opportunity to thank everyone for there support and generously offered help.
We have a wonderful guild of such talented women. Just when I think I have seen the very best here comes another example of how far you can go when you stretch your imagination. I hope all of you are working on those entries for the quilt show.
Beverly, Sarah Hough and I have been to Beach TV to make our video for the quilt show ad. Sarah is also working on the publicity. Susie has her signup forms full of willing hand so all we need now is 80 quilts. Let's get those creative minds going and produce some extraordinary quilts.
I would like to thank the Frayed Knots for an enjoyable Christmas luncheon. I had no idea how much work goes into the luncheon until I attended my first this year. We still need some bee or team to chair the 2009 luncheon. Please think about it so that we can get our reservation in early for another nice event.
When you read this Christmas will be over, however please know that I am sending each one of you a Merry Christmas from the heart. Have a Safe and Happy New Year.
Jo-Ellen Rogers
P.S. Don't forget the lecture and trunk show at the library in Niceville on January 17 from 6:00 - 8:30 pm.

Night Meeting Report
I must begin this with an apology to everyone for not having something in the last newsletter. My world has been quite busy lately and I simply forgot to get it done. My life is now much more civilized and I am on track again. (Thanksgiving food drive where we fed approximately 260 families and my father was in the hospital.)
Anyway I want to thank the ladies who provided the refreshments for the November night meeting, Linda Kelley, Loretta Akerlind and Sally Bendschneider provided a beautiful table with wonderful things to eat.
At the November meeting we had 34 members, 5 guests and Denise Miller gave a wonderful program, what a great sense of adventure she added to her quilts. She has a name for each of them and has a knack of using pen & ink along with her beautiful stitching to make quilts that tell a story. I know that everyone in the audience enjoyed her program. Thanks Denise for a great program.
I attended the Christmas luncheon for the first time this year. The ladies did a great job of decorating, having individual name tags and had a huge assortment of door prizes. What a treat. The food was great; the air was filled with laughter and conversation. I had a great time as I think everyone who attended did. Thanks for all the hard work, time and effort that went into the planning of the luncheon ladies. It was a huge success.
The January meeting will be 22nd; the hostess is Helen Jeroski, with Linda Aspinwall giving the program. We don't have a hostess for the Sit & Stitch for January 8th. January 28th is the workday.
I hope everyone had a wonderful Holiday and a happy and safe New Year. Stay happy and safe.

"Wild Women Quilters on Tour"
Trunk Show / Lecture - with Karen McTavish and Sue Patten

The lecture will be held at the Niceville Community Center at 204 N. Partin Dr., Niceville Fl 32578. It will be open to the public at no cost. This is being sponsored by our local Quilt Guilds (Silver Threads, Flying Needles, Pensacola, Panama City) and Katydids. The Wild Women Quilters will provide a lecture and trunk show that displays traditional whole cloth, trapunto and innovative thread art quilts. They will offer helpful techniques, discuss useful products, and share their tips and tricks to success. There are many opportunities for questions and answers along with the chance to get up close and personal with their award winning quilts. They also offer book purchasing/signing opportunities after the trunk show. Their unique, completely opposite quilting styles and hilarious experiences are sure to entertain and amaze all that attend.
FROM PANAMA CITY: Traveling west on State Road 20, turn right at the intersection of State Road 285 (Partin Drive). Travel a short distance until you see the "Civic Center" on the left. Turn into the parking lot. The Community Center is the building directly behind the Children's Park.
