June 2009 Volume 4 Issue 5

President's Report
Well we have finished an entire year and most of the preparations are set for next year. I am looking forward to the Joint May Pot Luck and the installation of officers and introduction of the new committee members. I think we have a good selection of both day and night members to assist the guild in our programs and projects. We have some retiring officers and committee women and I offer each one my heartfelt thanks for their Services.

We will be continuing some old favorites and trying out some new ideas. "Work night" Thursdays to be held on the 4th Thursday of the month from 6:00-8:30 pm is a new idea and hopefully will be ready to go in June.

The opportunity quilt is under way, the chairwoman for the Christmas Shoppe is on board, the Christmas Luncheon will be December 5 at the Boatyard, the 2010 quilt show has some chairwomen and most of the committee positions have been filled. As I prepare to leave for Paducah I can relax with the knowledge that my preparation work for the new year is complete.
We will be using last years 'wish list' as a reference for our programs. The list came in a little late last year to be used. If you have an idea or are willing to do a program; please call Mary Nelson or Sally Bendschneider. Either one would love to have your input or even better yet an idea with a volunteer attached to it.

Thanks so much for your gracious cooperation this year. I have enjoyed 2008-09 and look forward to 2009-10. God Bless you and good health to you and yours.

Respectfully submitted,
Jo-Ellen Rogers

Notice

HOSPITALITY CORNER
June Sit-n-Stitch will be held at the home of Susie Pippin. She will be assisted by our quilt friends from Port St. Joe. Remember that Pt. St. Joe is on Eastern time when making your travel plans, but as Susie says, "you'll be welcomed whatever time you arrive!"

HOSTESSES FOR THE JUNE MEETING WILL BE THE JUNE BIRTHDAY LADIES! This is our new hostess policy. Refreshments for the General Meetings (day and night) will be provided by the people who have birthdays in the month of their birthday. If you attend only in the winter, we ask that you select a month of your choice to bring refreshments. Those members who have a birthday in December, we request that you bring refreshments for the Hospitality Room during the Quilt Show. If you miss your birthday month, please bring a refreshment the next month you attend.

We are currently taking Sign Ups for Sit-n-Stitch for the coming year and there are still many vacant spots. Please consider opening your home for this event. Members really enjoy this special time to be with fellow quilters. If you cannot do this, please put your name down to assist someone. The more members who participate the more fun it is!

A REQUEST FROM ST. ANDREWS

Bill Gobat asked if the guild might be able to support their outreach project of feeding the poor. We can do this by bringing a nonperishable food item to the next guild meeting. Let's all get behind this project.
