President's Report

I was so please to see how the quilt show turned out. Beverly, Bobbi, Susie Pippin, Sarah Hough and Linda Aspinwall did such a wonderful job in their various categories. And I can't forget a thank you to the hanging and takedown committees and to all the worker bees who are the unsung heroes of organizations such as ours. Congratulations to the winners and to those who are brave enough to put their quilts in the show. It is really not that painful to have your work critiqued. I personally have learned where improvement was needed.

We have been so busy in our charity projects of late that we have been neglect in some fun projects. We are trying to remedy that with free lessons on workday Wednesdays. Our first was Edyth Brown with Stack N' Slash in January. February 25 Mary Nelson will present mile-a-minute blocks as the second in our series. We will continue through June with one lesson a month. The dates and lessons will be in the newsletter. Arrangements are pending for some Saturday lessons for the night group.

Next month we will have the results of the nominating committee. Those who were appointed were: Susie Pippin, Chairwoman, Mary Nelson and Pat Watson from the day group and Donna Gibbens and Jean Crowell from the night group. If you are asked to serve on the board, keep an open mind and do accept. I have learned a lot this past year and I know there is still more I can learn. Also we will be looking for committee members right after the board nominations. So stretch yourself and accept a job for 2009-10. You may be presently surprised at how rewarding the work can be.
God Bless You All.

Jo-Ellen Rogers

2009 Christmas Party...WE ARE LOOKING FOR A FEW GOOD WOMEN!!!
To date we have had no volunteers for to host the 2009 Christmas Party. If a party is
desired...someone has to stand up or call and volunteer. Please consider the job! Call Jo-Ellen.

Dear Quilters
As we start a new year there are children ages new born to five years old in Early Head start and Head start program who will benefit greatly from your creative efforts. Please think of them as you discover unwanted fabric, orphan blocks and U.F.O. s during you sewing room’s 2009 cleanup. The bibs and nap quilts you can make for them will get a lot of loving, cuddling use by these little ones. Your past generosity has been greatly appreciated by the children, teachers and families. We added more classes this year, so we have additional babies to bib and tuckered toddlers and preschoolers to help snuggle at naptime. Each on of you has made a difference in a child’s life with your beautiful donations to this program. Thank you for you continued support.
Sincerely, Sally Ann Bendschneider
