November 2009 Volume 4 Issue 11
President's Report
Everyone seemed to be interested in Bobbi Dye's origami program. The presentation was accented by some good old-fashioned hands-on work. Thanks to you Bobbi for a job well done.
I hope everyone is working on their donations to the Christmas Shoppe. November 21 is coming on quickly and we need every member's help to reach our goal. The Christmas Shoppe is a good portion of our income for the year. Your dues only cover the yearbook and a few issues of the newsletter. The rest of our nearly $15,000 annual budget comes from the hard work of our volunteers. Are you one of them?
The Christmas luncheon sign up sheets are prepared and awaiting your names. A copy of the menu and details are in this newsletter. Sally has the signup form for the night group and Linda Aspinwall has the day group. So set aside December 5, 2009 from 11:00 am until 2:00-ish for some celebrating with your fellow quilters.
Beverly reports she has received only 6 quilt registrations for the February quilt show. I myself have ideas, but no actual product. So like the rest of you... I need to get with it. So many things to do and so little time.
Have a safe and BOOed Halloween and don't get into too much of that candy. Say a prayer for our serviceman and our country.
Respectfully Submitted,
Jo-Ellen Rogers

NOTES FROM THE HOSPITALITY CORNER
Join us for the Daytime General Meeting when we gather together for our Covered Dish Luncheon. It's always a time of good fellowship and "good eats." Pack up your favorite dish to share and come enjoy the fun. As we dine together, we ask you to think of others in need of good food and ask you to bring a non-perishable food item to donate to the St. Andrew Episcopal Food Bank.
Daytime Hostesses: The Board
Nighttime Hostesses: Mary Molinari, Donna Gibbens, Patty Hack
QUILT SHOW NEEDS YOUR HELP!
To date, we only have five quilt entries. Our goal is 80 QUILTS! Please don't let us down...we know that there are GREAT QUILTS out there, just waiting to be seen by others. So get your registration forms filled out and send them to Beverly (and save her from worry). Your support makes it happen and you have yet to let us down.
Remember that this is a St. Andrew Bay Quilters' Guild show...only members of the Guild can exhibit in the show/contest. Regina and The Gadabouts have made some knockout ribbons.... wouldn't you like to try to win one? It can happen, all you have to do is ENTER!
Buzz from the Queen Bee!!!
All of the bees must be in a frenzy getting ready for the Christmas Shoppe, because I have not heard from a single one this month! I think that means you are working so hard on your projects that you don't have time to call or e-mail to give me the news, or else you want to surprise us on November 21 with all your lovely items!
I know some secrets, and I'm not telling! I know what the Frayed Knots and the Flamingoes are putting in their Bee Baskets for the Quilt Show Silent Auction. I don't know what the other bees have planned, but you're going to have to do something pretty special to top those two bees. I wonder which bee is going to raise the most money with their basket, hmmmmmm??????
Don’t forget to call or email with your bee news!
Quilter Request
Wanted pairs of 5-inch squares for an I Spy Quilt, if you have any you'd like to part with would love to have them... Please bring to next Guild Meeting. Thank you. Rosemary Martens

Retreat
There were 25 members at the Fall Retreat and they had a wonderful time. The next Fall Retreat is being worked on by Betty Williams and her daughters, Judy Poppell and Debbie Register, with help from others. It should be fun. You know how they are!!!
Stockings
What is the prettiest Christmas stocking you have ever made? Did it take long?
What if you made a very simple stocking? That would not take long. Both pretty and simple would be filled with items for a Meal on Wheels shut-in by Innovations Credit Union. What a nice way to start December! Yours might even win a prize!
For Thanksgiving
Please bring a can of food or dry beans and rice to the next meeting. Day or Night Meetings. We are donating what you bring to the church. It would be nice to fill their food box for Thanksgiving.
