PRESIDENT’S NOTE
Fall is my favorite time of the year. When the weather cools a little, I seem to have more energy and want to do lots of things such as quilt more, plan for Christmas (make gifts for family and friends), the retreat (which is therapy for me) and have family for Thanksgiving. Fall is a busy and good time for me.

Susie
Our wonderful Guild is very energised at this time also. The retreat is planned and I understand that it will be lots of fun. Maybe you can finish some UFO's while there. Great plans are being made for the Christmas party. Should be fun. Have you made a purse? Relay for Life committee is being formed. Members are busy making comfort quilts and catheter bag covers for our Vets in the VA Home. We are also making quilts and bibs for Children's Services. Many bibs were turned in at the night meeting and quilts were turned in at both meetings. Thanks for caring and sharing.

Plans for the Quilt Expo are going well. The quilt is being quilted and we will soon have tickets for it. Ribbons will be put together this month. Carolyn Swope has been busy getting ready for the Boutique. She has made some really nice sale tags for boutique items. Sure will make things easier by having only one type of tags. Beverly gave lots of good Expo information during her programs at the guild meetings. I hope you all were encouraged by her and will put a quilt in the show. You could win a ribbon and money. If you don't win anything you will still get valuable feedback about your quilts. There will more information in this newsletter. THANKS FOR YOUR SUPPORT AND LET’S ALL CONTINUE TO DO FOR THE GOOD OF OUR QUILD.

Keep stitching and God bless you.
Susie

Please add to your year book: Night secretary---Ann Vassie ... Sorry for the omission.

CLASS/WORKSHOP/EVENTS POLICIES - Bev Pierzchala
SABQG will periodically offer events or classes to members. Members will have ample opportunity to sign up and pay for these classes or events. To guarantee a member's space in the event or class, the class fee or cost for the event must be paid at time of registration. Should a member need to cancel participation in the class or event, the SABQG policy for refund of class fees or event fees will be:

• For a cancellation more than 2 weeks (14 days) prior to the class or event, SABQG will refund the full amount paid by the member.

• If a member cancels within the two weeks prior to the class or event, SABQG will not provide a refund for this cancellation. The member is welcome to send another person in the member's place. The fees are then to be worked out between the two parties.

• A waiting list will be maintained by the program committee to assist members in finding a replacement for the class or event.

YOU AND E-WORDS - Sue Gulkis
With the new membership books and new year for SABQG, I am starting over with a new group list. If you want to receive the "e-words," messages about the guild that come out between the newsletter issues, you must send me an e-mail requesting to be put on the group list. There have problems on occasion between Comcast and/or Knology and AOL. We just have to work those out when they happen. Something that may help is to put my name and e-mail address in your e-mail address book. Please give me a couple of days to respond before you re-send your e-mail address. I will "reply" to your request with an e-mail letting you know that I have added you to the SABQG group list. I will also let you know which section you will be in, just as a bit of information (i.e. SABQG 07-1). You don't really need to make a note of this. If you have any questions, please contact me. If I am unable to answer the phone, an answering machine message will start. Any time during the message, press #2 to leave a message in my "mailbox." My e-mail "addy" is suesew@aol.com. I may not have access to a computer the first 2 weeks of October and the first week of November, so give me more time to respond to you during those times.

SUNSHINE & SHADOWS, Bobbie Clemens

This month several of our members have lost loved ones. Here are some that I know about. Please keep them and their families in your thoughts and prayers. Joyce Rogers (mother), Bobbie Caldwell (husband) Kristin Rolle (brother) Bobbi Clemens (brother).

Good news to report about Janice Roberts. After returning from Houston, her cancer is in remission, but she still has a long way to go in recovering from all she is going through. Keep those prayers going!

Linda Aspinwall is fighting some health issues, but nothing that she can’t handle. If you see her, she could use a "Hug".

Noel Russo will be having her tonsils out on Wednesday. We wish her a speedy recovery.

Two of our members have husbands in the hospital, Carolyn St. Amant and Sara Hutton. We wish them better days ahead.

If anyone knows of someone that needs a friendly card from the guild, please send me the information. I need the help of everyone to keep current on what's happening to our members.

FALL RETREAT – Bonnie Holley and Ann Pyle
Date: November 17, 18 and 19, 2006
Place: Blue Spring Baptist Conference Center, 2650 Lakeshore Drive, Marianna, Florida, 32446
Cost: Double Room $102, Private Room $152-156, Handicap Room $152

Plans are being finalized for the Fall Retreat. If you have not signed up please do so as soon as possible so we will know who is attending. India Belisle has the sign up roster for the day time meeting and it will also be available at the night time meeting.

If you have not attended one of the retreats, here is some information. On Friday Nov. 17, you can arrive at your leisure. Each person will be given a key for their room which can be picked up at the main office of the facility. Upon departure, keys must be deposited in the drop box located at the main office.

The only meal served on Friday is dinner. Some quilters arriving before lunch on Friday bring a sack lunch or we will/can patronize one of the local eating establishments. Breakfast, lunch and dinner are served on Saturday. On Sunday, breakfast is the only meal served. Quilters may, however, continue to sew on Sunday and depart at their leisure.

Supplies to bring include your sewing machines with its foot pedal, power cord and bobbins, sewing supplies, extension cord and, although some are provided by the facility, iron, small ironing board, and those projects that you are working on. You can sew all night if you desire to do so, or just relax and enjoy the beautiful surroundings and the company of fellow quilters.

On Friday evening around 7:00 we are planning a short get together with a few games. On Saturday evening at 7:00 we will have our main gathering of all quilters in attendance. There will be games, prizes, fun activities and many surprises. We will also have show and tell at the gathering on Saturday evening so bring the projects that you have been working on to share with others.

We are asking that each person bring the following to our Saturday night gathering: 1 yard of favorite fabric, a pair of scissors and a wrapped item that is under $10 (something you would love to receive, but not necessarily quilt related). Wear a pair of flip-flops. See you at the retreat.

RELAY FOR LIFE - April 20-21, 2007
The board voted to have our guild participate in the upcoming Relay for Life in 2007. The first meeting was held on Tuesday, September 26th. There were contests, games and refreshments. Last year we surpassed our goal of $1,000. This year we hope to make it even better. Helen Russo agreed to Chair the Relay Committee along with Sue Gulkis and Cindy Hughes as Co-Chairs. Aking Osborne volunteered to make the Raffle Quilt from some of Elaine Whitted's fabrics as our main fundraising event. We need several other people to volunteer to help these ladies plan and organize this most worthy event. So please volunteer and MAKE A DIFFERENCE!!! To join the team or make a donation log onto www.acsevents.org/relay/fl/panamacity and look for St. Andrews Bay Quilters Guild.

We have 37 completed Vet quilts for the Sims Nursing Home. There are other quilts on the road to completion. Some people are piecing, others are quilting and/or tying, others are binding. If you are able to help in any area, please let me know. The Guild will present the Vet quilts on Nov. 29 at 9:30. Sims Nursing Home will provide the refreshments because of so many different dietary concerns. If you can attend, please let me know. The Home hopes to display the quilts in some manner. I hope to find a way in which the residents can have some choice in "their" quilt. Any suggestions?

Guild Bees are Really Super!!! Many thanks to:
So-n-Sews for helping cut fabric into strips 2.5", 3.5", 4.5", 5.5", 6.5” and fat quarters.
Honey Bees for fabric donations and stripping fabric.
Humming Birds for sewing so many rail fence squares.
I would like to bring the cut fabric to your Bee meeting for piecing blocks.

Real sensational teachers are members of our Quilt Guild. Thanks goes to Lee Brahier for the great class on the rail fence quilt. She also shared pictures from her trip to the quilt show in Sisters, OR.

NOTE FROM Janice Roberts
Dear Quilting Friends,
As many of you know, I recently returned from M.D. Anderson Hospital in Houston, They did a complete physical on me and concluded I don't have any active cancer cells in my body. I am in remission. Praise God! This is truly an answer to many prayers. Thank you for all your thoughts and prayers.

I have already found out that I'm not out of the woods. I am actually in Bay Medical Center right now getting two pints of blood because my Hgb went down to 7.8. My blood count goes down easy. The normal Hgb is 12.-18. I have already received four pints of blood before today.

I will return as soon as I am stable. I miss you all and all of your creative work.
May God bless each of you,
Janice Roberts

INSIDE THE BOOTH  - Sarah Hough
I had the opportunity to attend the Nashville Quilt Show with Mary Molinari who had a booth to sell her fabulous hand-dyed fabric. I must admit that it gave me a whole new respect and appreciation for the vendors we love to see at quilt shows. It is lots of hard work but it is also very rewarding. One great benefit was seeing lots of current and former SABQG members. (I won't try to name them since I don't want to leave anyone out.)

In case you haven't heard, Mary Molinari will be moving to Tallahassee as her husband has a great new job. We will miss her very much. Anyone interested in buying a great house? Call Mary!
